About the Role

We are seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Openshaw on a maternity cover basis. This is a full-time role starting as soon as possible and continuing on an ongoing basis. The school supports pupils with a range of complex additional needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching tailored to individual learning profiles within a supportive and well-resourced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a range of SEN needs
  • Create a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider SEN support staff
  • Track and assess pupil progress, adapting learning accordingly
  • Contribute to EHCP targets and individual learning plans

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working in SEN settings, ideally with complex needs, ASD, or SEMH
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
  • A patient, consistent, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
