The Role

You will be the face of the school’s transport service, providing a premium, punctual, and safe commuting experience for students. Given the early starts and evening finishes, we require a high level of reliability and a professional demeanour suitable for a private educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Precision Transport: Execute designated routes with absolute punctuality, ensuring students arrive refreshed for the school day and returned safely in the evening.
  • Vehicle Stewardship: Conduct rigorous pre-and-post-trip inspections. You are responsible for the vehicle's cleanliness; cleaning hours are integrated into your 35-hour week to ensure the fleet meets the school’s high standards.
  • Student Liaison: Maintain a polite, firm, and safe environment on board. You will be responsible for enforcing the school’s Code of Conduct during transit.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all DVSA Tachograph and Driving Hours regulations.

Requirements

  • Licensing: Must hold a valid UK driving licence with Category D or D1 entitlement.
  • Professional Credentials: A current Driver Qualification Card (CPC) is essential.
  • Vetting: Possession of, or willingness to undergo, an Enhanced DBS Check with Children’s Barred List clearance.
  • Character: Punctuality is non-negotiable. Candidates must be comfortable with early morning starts and evening finishes.

School Holidays Off: Enjoy significant time off during Christmas, Easter, and Summer, aligned with the Independent Schools Council typical academic calendar.

Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours per week paid throughout the term, providing more financial stability than standard "morning-only" routes.

Pension Scheme: Eligible for the Workplace Pension Scheme under auto-enrolment.

Holiday Pay: You are entitled to the statutory minimum of 5.6 weeks of paid holiday, calculated pro-rata.

Payment Schedule: For part-year workers, this is typically paid at a rate of 12.07% of your actual hours worked. Annual salary is often pro-rated into 12 equal monthly payments to ensure a steady income, even during school holidays.
