About The Service

Cardiff School Based Counselling Service is a friendly and committed team of counsellors. We provide an independent school based counselling service in all maintained secondary schools and the Pupil Referral Unit in the Local Authority. We also provide counselling to pupils in Year 6 of primary school. The service operates a face to face counselling service. Some work may also be undertaken outside of school hours and outside the school setting.

About the job

You will work in comprehensive schools, primary schools and community settings and will be part of the ongoing development of counselling services in Cardiff Local Authority. You will have regular access to clinical and managerial supervision as well as continuing professional development opportunities.

What We Are Looking For From You

  • You will hold a professional diploma in Counselling, have evidenced post qualification supervised practice and be accredited/registered with the BACP/UKCP or equivalent.
  • You will have a good understanding of Safeguarding, Social Inclusion and Well-being agendas.
  • Experience of working with schools and of providing counselling support to younger age primary children (school years 5-6) would be desirable.

Additional information

This role is part-time at 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The advertised salary is based on a full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). The actual salary will be lower than the advertised salary because of the part-time hours and weeks worked. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Welsh Language requirement
