Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a two‑form entry primary school in Salford with a fantastic reputation and is easily accessible via public transport. We require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to join the year 4 class on a full‑time temporary basis. This is an extremely rewarding position where you will join the school on a long‑term temporary basis and play an integral role in the emotional well‑being and education of a pupil within the year 4 class. The position has an immediate start available and, subject to funding, will last the remainder of the academic year.

Your new role

  • As a teaching assistant within this school you will be supporting a year 4 pupil with SEMH on a 1:1 basis in the main classroom.
  • Your pupil has been subject to significant trauma so the ability to build a strong constructive relationship and use a trauma‑informed approach is imperative.
  • Support pupils social, emotional and well‑being development.
  • Provide self‑esteem, emotional awareness and coping strategies/support.
  • Build strong constructive relationships with pupils to promote well‑being and attendance.
  • Work in partnership with the SENCO.
  • Maintain accurate pupil records to track progress and emotional development.
  • Integrate into new pupil groups.
  • Implement an array of positive behaviour strategies.

What you need to succeed

  • Full “Right to Work” in the UK.
  • Experience supporting SEMH and a strong understanding of behaviours and emotional well‑being.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • A minimum of 40‑days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years.
