The University of Salford is one of the UK’s largest centres of teaching and research in film and the broader media industries. We are looking for a new member of our academic team to join us at MediaCity and our Newton Film Studios: an enthusiastic and inspirational lecturer with a proven record of accomplishment in professional film industry practice and experience of teaching in higher education. We particularly welcome applications from filmmakers who can take the lead in our Professional Practice teaching, addressing areas of collaboration, production planning, working on set, wellbeing, and sustainability. A track record of developing successful research projects is also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching on a variety of modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Film Production.
  • Taking a leading role in Professional Practice teaching, including instructing skills in directing, producing, scriptwriting, production managing, sound design, editing, and cinematography.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with a wide range of genres and forms of interest to students, such as drama, documentary, shorts, or features.
  • Contributing to the research agenda of the School in the context of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).
