North Somerset Environment Company Ltd (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council delivering services across North Somerset, including waste collection, recycling, highway maintenance, and facility management.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance of Health, Safety and Facilities Management systems and procedures, including accident reporting, permit to work, and COSHH coverage.
- Coordinate the supply chain and contractors involved in maintaining all business facilities and sites.
- Ensure all activities are risk‑assessed and permit to works issued where required.
- Co‑ordinate reviews of risk assessments, site plans, traffic management plans, and safe systems of work.
- Assist with major incident investigations and follow up on actions to ensure closure.
- Participate in the Safety Committee, record minutes and complete allocated actions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience and enthusiasm in health & safety, knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.
- Understanding of basic facilities management functionality, including in‑house and contractor maintenance teams.
- Professional qualifications and accreditations (NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred; training sponsorship available.
- Experience in undertaking and writing risk assessments, safe systems of work, inductions, and training packages.
- Excellent people skills, participative team member, strong stakeholder and supplier relationships.
- IT literacy, proficient with Microsoft Office suite and business systems.
