A forward thinking registered Dental Nurse is sought to join The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital to work alongside and support Orthodontic consultants, Maxillofacial consultants, DCTs, Orthodontic therapists and Hygienists. The successful applicant must possess a certificate in dental nursing and be registered with the GDC, with experience of working in a dental setting. This is a part time role of 34.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- To support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high levels of clinical skills.
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Participate in team building and communication to develop and consolidate a cohesive and supportive team.
- Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relatives/carers, nurse colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Receive and handle sensitive information concerning patients' medical conditions.
- Assist nervous/anxious patients.
- Identify, discuss and report any relevant nursing/patient needs with the team/ward staff and patients.
- Work in partnership with the patient, family and other health care professionals in care delivery.
- Provide support and advice to patients and relatives when faced with distressing situations.
- Accept responsibility; locate and adhere to all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and ensure adherence by self and colleagues.
- Demonstrate good communication skills verbally, in formal documentation and electronic (IT) sources with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
- Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trust policies.
- Adhere to Trust policies pertaining to patient confidentiality, the Data Protection Act and Caldicott recommendations.
Qualifications
- Certificate in dental nursing.
- Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- Experience of working in a dental setting.
