An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint part-time Receptionists to join the A&E Department at Weston General Hospital. We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic candidates who thrive in a busy and supportive working environment. The role of the Receptionist is integral to all that we do. You must be able to greet patients, be approachable and empathetic to patient needs, while also working effectively under pressure. The role can sometimes be demanding, with telephone calls to answer alongside the needs of patients and other staff. It requires a significant amount of computer work, so high standards of speed and accuracy are essential.

We are recruiting for: 1 post at 16 hours per week. These roles will work across 7 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, on a rotating shift pattern:

  • AM shift: 07:00 – 15:30
  • PM shift: 15:30 – 00:00

If you are passionate about delivering excellent patient care and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. The rota operates on a 6-week rolling basis, ensuring fair distribution of shifts across the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a first point of contact and provide assistance to patients, relatives or other members of the public who attend or make contact by phone to the emergency department.
  • Organise workload in accordance with the demands of the department.
  • Co-ordinate daily activities to ensure efficiency of service within the organisation.
  • Exercise initiative.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
