A welcoming primary school in Rowley Regis is seeking a confident and experienced Teaching Assistant to support their Reception class. This is a long-term position in a well-established EYFS team, where several children have additional needs including speech, language, and communication difficulties (SLCN). This role is not suitable for applicants without recent classroom experience. Due to the specific needs in the group, we are looking for someone who has supported children in an Early Years classroom and has a clear understanding of how to adapt learning for pupils with SEND.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the class as a whole with a focus on children with additional needs
  • Encouraging speech and language development through structured and play-based activities
  • Assisting with classroom routines, sensory activities and interventions
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
  • Promoting independence, social skills and positive behaviour

What We're Looking For

  • Has recent experience in a school or nursery setting, ideally in EYFS
  • Is confident supporting children with SEND and SLCN
  • Can follow routines and adapt to the needs of young learners
  • Understands the Early Years Framework and child development
  • Holds a Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent)
