The Role:
Reporting into the sales function, you will play a key role in supporting customer project enquiries by developing accurate, competitive and technically sound proposals. This is a varied role that combines mechanical engineering expertise with commercial awareness, working closely with sales, engineering and customers throughout the full bid lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review RFQs and interpret customer requirements
- Develop technical solutions with engineering teams
- Select equipment and source costs for materials/services
- Prepare accurate, costed proposals and quotations
- Ensure bids are delivered on time and within budget
- Support customer meetings, contract handover, and project coordination
- Assist with sales admin and identify new opportunities
Essential criteria:
- 5 years' experience in proposals/tendering or sales engineering
- Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience
- Background in heavy/complex engineered systems or machine build
- Experience producing technical, costed proposals
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and commercial awareness
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD/Inventor preferred
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused
