Manpower are currently recruiting for Production Operatives to work on a temporary to permanent basis on behalf of a local adhesives manufacturing client based in the Walton‑Summit area of Preston.

  • Shift Pattern
  • Working 4 days on, 2 days off. (Initially training Monday to Friday during day time only)

Rotating shifts

Please note this shift pattern does contain weekend working.

Starting salary of £28,554 plus an impressive shift allowance of £4,193.90 initially, rising to £7,138.50 upon successful completion of probation.

  • Primary Duties
  • Preparation of raw materials and packaging: identifying, preparing the right quantities, transporting them to the appropriate production area, reporting any deviation from normal, noting the start and finish of the process.
  • Operating batch processing equipment in line with process instructions and procedures for bonding‑agent manufacture.
  • Monitoring equipment, keeping processes running at desired run rates.
  • During weekend shifts, operating polymer‑reaction equipment in line with process instructions and procedures.
  • Completing the initial testing and release of products to ensure no deviations from specifications.
  • Checking labels and packaging material, ensuring correct labeling following the existing rules and instructions.
  • Packaging the final products in accordance with instructions and company quality standards.
  • Carrying out all operations in compliance with the expected quality standards and operating procedures of the company, and respecting all legal and company EHS‑rules.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in the area of responsibility.
  • Carrying out any other duties requested by the Production Manager/Supervisor.
  • Minimum Requirements
  • Chemical manufacturing experience advantageous.
  • Knowledge of common software programs (MS Office).
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, production processes, safety regulations and quality procedures and instructions.
  • Availability to work shifts which include weekend work.

Qualifications

Experience in a chemical industrial environment desirable. Understanding of basic English.

  • Required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk and climb stairs.
  • Use hands to remove or lift boxes, bags and drums.
  • Stretch and reach with arms extended.
  • Stoop and bend.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Temperature, dust, smell and noise are under normal chemical environment conditions.
