The Role

As a Nursery Assistant, you will work alongside nursery staff to provide high‑quality care and engaging learning opportunities for children. You will help create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and thrive, while ensuring their wellbeing remains at the heart of everything you do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children’s play, learning, and daily routines, helping to create an engaging and stimulating environment that encourages development.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and organized nursery setting where children feel secure and valued.
  • Work closely with nursery practitioners to supervise children during activities, mealtimes, snack times, and personal care routines.
  • Help prepare, organize, and tidy learning resources, activities, and equipment throughout the day.
  • Encourage children’s confidence, independence, creativity, and social skills through positive interactions and play‑based learning.
  • Support the delivery of age‑appropriate activities that promote emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, colleagues, and parents where appropriate.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies and procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • An interest in early years education and childcare.
  • The ability to adapt quickly and work confidently in different nursery settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
