A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am an 82‑year‑old woman living in the Porth area. I have always been a keen walker (though not as fast as I once was) and have walked through Brecon many times. I am very chatty and sociable and will talk about anything, I also have a good sense of humour. I enjoy listening to music. I have a visual impairment which has stopped me going out alone and causes me anxiety about going out now.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To support me to access the community safely and to get me out and walking again. Potential to also take me to certain appointments.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 4 hours per week available. The hours will not be worked on Tuesday or Thursday but flexible on times and days outside of this.

RATES OF PAY

£13.50 per hour plus 40p per mile where applicable.

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Taking me out into the community and ensuring my safety.
  • Going out walking with me.
  • Potentially taking me to appointments or taking me shopping.
  • Maybe some help around the house if required.
  • Providing me with company and having good conversation with me.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • A kind and friendly person.
  • A chatty and talkative person.
  • A driver with business class insurance is preferred.
  • Non‑smoker preferred.
  • A reliable and punctual person.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part‑time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
