We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and meticulous pharmacy technician to provide prescribing support to multidisciplinary teams in general practices within a Primary Care Network.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributing to the provision of safe and effective pharmacy services
- Undertaking medicines reconciliation in line with practice protocols and standard operating procedures
- Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of prescriptions and repeat prescriptions
- Responding to patients’ questions face‑to‑face and over the phone; referring further problems or queries to a pharmacist
- Identifying and acting on medication errors/queries within area of competence and reporting complex issues to a medicines optimisation pharmacist as appropriate
- Participating in patient reviews and updating patient records via clinics in practice, supporting nursing and residential care homes where necessary
- Participating in medication audits
- Providing advice and information to GPs, staff and patients to improve prescribing safety, quality, cost‑effectiveness and the appropriate use of medicines to get the best outcomes for patients
- Supporting pharmacists to establish safe working arrangements for medicines in the Community Medicines Optimisation Service
- Providing support to other CMOS workstreams as necessary
Qualifications and Experience
Substantial experience in hospital or primary care, registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and access to a car for work purposes are required. Excellent time‑management, a solid understanding of medicines optimisation, and strong communication skills are essential.
