We are looking for a reliable, confident, and proactive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a young person, at home and in the community. This role aims to promote independence, safety and enjoyable access to meaningful activities.
You will support a family with a young adult who has additional needs. He is non-verbal, uses PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and responds well to prompts, modelling, and basic spoken commands. The PA should feel confident engaging with a young adult who uses alternative communication methods.
Support is mainly required for:
- Community access and social activities: cycling (Bristol Family Cycling Centre), parks, playgrounds, walks, shopping trips, bowling, concerts
- Personal care: support when using bathroom facilities. Prompting is usually sufficient, but direct assistance is provided when necessary
- Domestic support: minimal 1:1 tasks such as light cleaning or laundry
- Meal preparation/cooking as required
