We are looking for a kind, reliable and patient Personal Care Assistant to support our lovely family, particularly our son who has complex physical and communication needs and requires support with all aspects of his daily care. The role is ideal for someone looking for flexible part-time work at weekends and during school holidays.

Support is mainly needed at weekends during term time, usually around 4 hours, and during half terms and the summer holidays, usually around 8 hours per week. There may be some flexibility around the exact days and times.

The role will involve providing personal care and practical support, helping with activities, positioning and mobility, and supporting our son to enjoy time at home and out in the community. He eats orally and has blended food. He uses specialist equipment, including a hoist, and may require support with medication. Full training and guidance will be provided for the hoist, medication and his individual care routines, so previous experience is helpful but not essential.

You will work alongside us as parents and follow his established routines and care needs. We are looking for someone who is caring, dependable, calm and respectful, who genuinely enjoys working with children and is happy to learn his individual routines. Previous experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is helpful, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.

This is a flexible part-time role, which could suit someone studying, working another job, or looking for additional weekend and school-holiday hours.

Pay: £13.20 per hour through Direct Payments (employed) or £15 per hour if self-employed. We can also contribute an additional £1 per hour ourselves, making the rate £14.20 employed or £16 per hour self-employed. We are hoping to find someone who can become a familiar and trusted member of our support team and build a positive relationship with our son and family.
