A young man with Epilepsy from Llandeilo requires a Personal Assistant for 4 hours per week to access the community to gain skills and build on his independence during weekdays. He would like to build on friendships with people who have similar interests and would like to find a volunteering opportunity, so he needs the support of a Personal Assistant.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Supporting the employer to access the community to gain skills and encouragement in gaining independence.
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in his community.
- Assisting in finding a volunteering opportunity within his community.
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction.
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
- Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Being mindful of safeguarding issues and providing feedback on any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately.
- Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships:
- Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
- To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment:
Working in the employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
