Personal Assistant required for a 21-year-old female in Carmarthen. The role involves working 34 hours over a 4-week period, with an additional 18 hours during school holidays (14 weeks per year). The PA will work alongside another PA to support the young lady who has global development delay, ASD, hypermobility, scoliosis, and is non-verbal.

The young lady enjoys music, being out and about, and lots of 1:1 interaction. She uses basic Makaton signs to communicate and is a full-time wheelchair user, requiring 2:1 support when transferring from her chair and for personal care. Activities she enjoys include shopping, walks, and trips to the cinema. Following recent trauma, she can be anxious when transferring, so support, reassurance, and patience are very important.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
  • Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
  • Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
  • Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
  • Providing companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction
  • Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during working hours
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer
  • Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act
  • Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council
  • Contacting the GP, Social Worker, or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

Relationships:

  • Ability to develop supportive and caring relationships with the employer
  • Undertaking all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary

Job Working Environment:

Working in the employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
