Responsibilities

  • Teach the programme delivering the subject.
  • Prepare and assess teaching materials, including relevant paperwork for planning and assessment, and keep accurate records.
  • Perform administrative tasks relating to the programme(s) taught and college requirements under guidance of the Head of Department.
  • Participate in internal verification and internal lesson observation processes; all lecturers will have an observed lesson each academic year.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance, maintaining a safe working environment in line with the HASAW Act and the College Health and Safety Policy.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.
  • During busy exam periods, undertake exam invigilator duties (training provided by the College).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • 150 hours of counselling skills and theory qualification at Level 2 and above (e.g. CSK-L2 plus CSTL3/CAST-L3).
  • Experience using counselling skills in a workplace setting.
  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
  • Teacher Training Qualification or willingness to undertake the required courses to gain this.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
  • Experience of teaching and assessing at Level 2 or above.
  • A requirement for Lecturers to maintain CPD and update industry specific skills on an annual basis.

Desirable Attainments

  • Previous experience of teaching at the relevant level and subject.

For the successful candidate, a conditional offer of work will be made. Offers of appointment are subject to a DBS check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, right to work check, internet search, a TRA check (academic posts), receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within "Regulated Activity" within a specific place (i.e. the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

Salary and Working Hours

This role is pro-rata so the salary you will be receiving is £3,179.14 - £4,444.47 per annum.

The schedule is for Wednesday evening 5:30 pm - 9 pm. The remaining 1.5 hour of this contract can be completed at a different time as this is allocated for preparation and admin.
