Reporting to The Direct Payments Recipient's parents (The Direct Payments Recipient's parent is the employer, and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).
A Direct Payments client’s parent in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ 2 Personal Assistants to support them with their child who has additional learning needs with socialisation. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently.
The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the child and encourage them to develop independent skills.
The main duties to be included in this role are:
- Supporting the child to engage in the community and develop independent skills.
- Providing support to the child whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the child and parent and providing them with social interaction.
- Ensuring the child's safety at all times during your working hours.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
The client is looking for 2 personal assistants that fit the following person specification:
- Caring and patient.
- Has experience with children with additional learning needs.
- Responsible and honest.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Has good local knowledge.
- Good timekeeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties.
- Good communicator.
- Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship.
Other Requirements:
- A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
- You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
This appointment is subject to a DBS disclosure check, at no cost to the applicant.
Benefits:
- 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
- Sick pay at SSP rate.
