Job Description
The HGV Class 2 Skip Driver is responsible for the safe and timely collection and delivery of skips across designated routes within the West Midlands area. The role involves operating a Class 2 heavy goods vehicle equipped with a Multi Lift system to transport waste and scrap metal materials to and from customer sites and our facility. The driver ensures compliance with all relevant road safety and environmental regulations while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a Class 2 HGV with Multi Lift skip loading and unloading equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collect and deliver skips to various customer locations in accordance with daily schedules and route plans.
- Ensure all loads are secure and comply with legal weight and safety requirements.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle checks using digital and manual systems.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures, including environmental and waste management regulations.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service at all times, representing the company positively.
- Assist with site duties as required, including basic housekeeping and supporting waste segregation processes.
- Comply with company policies regarding working hours and rest periods to ensure road safety.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 2 HGV driving licence.
- Current Driver Qualification Card (Digi card) for digital tachograph use.
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.
Experience
- Proven experience driving Class 2 HGV vehicles in a skip or waste management environment.
- Demonstrable experience operating Multi Lift skip systems safely.
- Familiarity with local routes within the West Midlands is highly advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of road traffic laws and health and safety regulations relevant to HGV operation.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Strong time management and organisational skills to adhere to delivery schedules.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.

Working Conditions
Full-time hours, Monday to Friday. Day starts from 06:00.
