Job Purpose
Are you a great researcher, interested in new areas of law? Are you able to explain complex information in a simple way? Are you a problem-solver with strong analytical skills? The Charity Commission is creating an exciting new post for a paralegal to join the Knowledge Management team, reporting to the Knowledge Management and Business Process Design Lead. You will play a key role providing support to the Head of the Knowledge Management team, as well as to lawyers and accountants reviewing, redesigning, developing and maintaining the Commission’s internal operational and other guidance. You will also support effective knowledge management for the legal and accountancy teams, maintaining internal know how and supporting the provision of learning and development for all legal and accountancy teams and the directorate as a whole. You will also provide ad-hoc support to individual lawyers on cases or legal policy matters as required.
The Legal Directorate has 25 lawyers, split into five teams: Legal Policy, Charitable Status, Compliance and Enforcement, Permissions and Information law, and Litigation. The teams operate as a tight peer group, guiding and supporting each other within teams and also across the teams where their different disciplines overlap. The Knowledge Management Team sits within Legal Policy and supports the legal, accountancy and casework teams with knowledge management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting qualified lawyers and accountants and the Head of Knowledge Management reviewing, redesigning, developing and maintaining the Commission’s internal operational and other guidance.
- Keeping the knowledge management for the legal and accountancy teams up to date and maintaining internal know how.
- Supporting the provision of learning and development for all legal and accountancy teams and the directorate as a whole.
- Providing ad-hoc research support to legal teams as required.
- Working with stakeholders across the organisation to curate and manage the development of knowledge content, practices and tools in the Commission ensuring continuous improvement.
- Promoting knowledge sharing across the organisation and innovative use of technology and other tools.
- Supporting a strong culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement, proactively identifying and tackling issues, challenging inefficient practices and procedures, encouraging innovation including technological developments.
