Shop Manager at Sue Ryder Charity shop, Ringtail Retail Park, Burscough, L40 7SP. 37.5 hours per week, including weekends on rota. Salary £28,352.75 per year plus reward and benefit scheme. Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops, generating funding for medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support.

Our aim is to provide support to those approaching the end of life or living with grief, ensuring access to the care and services they need.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a large team of volunteers, ensuring high standards of customer service to donors and customers.
  • Drive sales, set and achieve KPI targets and manage sales reporting.
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain volunteer team members.
  • Work with the local community to secure donated stock and drive sales.
  • Maintain merchandising standards, housekeeping and store layout; oversee health and safety compliance.
  • Use EPOS system for stock processes and daily operations.
  • Support national fundraising initiatives and act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High street or charity retail managerial experience.
  • Strong organisational and team leadership skills.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ability to set and meet sales targets.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of financial and IT administration.
  • Experience working with volunteers (lone working skills valued).
