We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Domestic Team at the Ormskirk site.

  • 1 x 37.5 hours (full time, permanent)
  • 1 x 12 hours (part time, permanent)

Providing a customer focused service and carrying out general and specialised cleaning tasks in accordance with Trust procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning of structures, non‑clinical patient equipment and components, manually or mechanically.
  • Perform isolation cleans/infection cleans as required.
  • Set up and use hydrogen peroxide fogging/UV machine cleaning of areas as required.
  • Carry out infection cleans/fogging/UV in response to requests.
  • Maintain and clean all housekeeping equipment.
  • Assist in the commissioning/decommissioning of areas.
  • Replace curtains, safely remove dirty linen and keep a tidy work environment.
  • Follow the Waste Disposal Policy to ensure safe removal and correct segregation of waste.
  • Ensure building security controls are adhered to and report problems immediately.
  • Cover other clinics or hospitals as necessary.
  • Work unsupervised as a lone worker and use own judgement to overcome operational issues.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers and buckets containing water and cleaning solutions, and perform both low and high cleaning work requiring physical effort.
  • Work in the vicinity of body fluids, physical aggression and exposure to hazards may occasionally occur.
  • Ensure compliance with Pas 5748, hygiene standards and Infection Prevention and Control procedures.
  • Ensure all appropriate hygiene monitoring is carried out and recorded for every process.
  • Maintain and improve all aspects of service, including the flushing of water systems and maintaining accurate records related to Legionella and Pseudomonas regulations.
  • Participate in staff involvement groups for all aspects of the Trust Quality Strategy.
  • Ensure good customer relations, working with patients and all levels of staff.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, adopting an empathetic approach to patients and visitors and ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Adopt confidentiality, privacy and dignity at all times – especially when dealing with patients with challenging behaviours.
  • Manage store keeping, including storage, stock rotation and timely submission of orders.
  • Ensure economic use of all materials and good practice to minimise waste.
  • Staff will be trained in all aspects of the housekeeping role over a minimum of 4 weeks or until deemed competent.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and maintain a flexible and supportive attitude toward work and colleagues.
  • Participate in the staff appraisal system and attend training in accordance with the personal development plan.
  • Complete and maintain competency levels.
  • Have an understanding of COSHH, PPE use and adhere to health and safety regulations around the use of chemicals.
