SEND Teaching Assistant in Oldham

Our client, a prominent educational institution in Oldham, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part‑Time SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and compassionate individual to make a meaningful contribution to the education and well‑being of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

As a Part‑Time SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of our students. Working closely with the class teacher, you will provide one‑on‑one or small‑group assistance, ensuring that each student receives the individualised attention and support they need to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Providing one‑on‑one or small‑group support to SEND students, delivering tailored lessons and interventions to meet their individual needs.
• Assisting the class teacher in creating inclusive and engaging learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of SEND students.
• Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive and productive classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement personalised education plans for SEND students.
• Monitoring and tracking the progress of SEND students, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and contributing to the assessment process.
• Attending relevant training and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance your knowledge and skills.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student progress, behaviour, and support strategies.
• Contributing to the overall well‑being and inclusion of SEND students within the school community.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within the education sector (desirable).
• Relevant qualifications, such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or a degree in a related field (desirable).
• Strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by SEND students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the educational and personal development of SEND students.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to follow instructions from the class teacher.
• Proficient in the use of assistive technologies and educational resources to support SEND students.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

In this part‑time role, you will be compensated at a rate of £82.50 – £100 per day, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. The position will involve working during term‑time, with the possibility of additional hours during school holidays, depending on the needs of our students.
