About the role:
Educato are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Specialist Learning Support Assistant to work in a Primary school setting in Oldham, working with a small number of learners with mixed abilities and SEND needs.
Key Responsibilities
- To support learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by planning, preparing and delivering structured learning and social-communication activities under an agreed system of supervision.
- To use specialist knowledge and strategies to reduce barriers to engagement, anxiety, sensory overload and transitions that impact autistic learners.
- To provide one-to-one and group support to young people with ASD, including mentoring, behaviour regulation and Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) intervention.
- Supporting students with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies and creating a calm, safe and supportive learning environment.
- Working closely with teachers and wider support teams to meet individual academic and wellbeing needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with ASD, SEMH, anxiety or mental health needs.
- Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
Requirements
- Relevant SEN/ASD qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
- Enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references which cover the last 24 months.
- Be happy to complete safeguarding and prevent training.
