Desian Education are proud to be supporting a Northwich based SEND primary school with great links to the motorway as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant. This is an extremely supportive and collaborative school that supports pupils with a variety of complex needs between the ages of 3 - 11. This school are looking for a teaching assistant to join their team on a long-term temporary basis to support a year 5 pupil with SEMH from September. Subject to funding, this role will last the whole academic year.
Your new role: In your new role you will be committing to 1:1 comprehensive support until the end of the academic year. You will be joining an experienced and welcoming team of like-minded professionals, working in collaboration with the year 5 teacher. You will be supporting a male year 5 pupil that is new to the school that has profound SEMH due to extensive trauma in their early life. You will take a trauma-informed approach to their education as to not trigger. To boost their engagement and learning you will boost self-esteem by tailoring a positive approach to engage their learning.
Other duties will include:
- ELSA interventions (emotional literacy and well-being)
- Supporting during break and lunch times
- Track behaviours and learning journey to accurately recognise key milestones
- Work in collaboration with external professionals
What you need to succeed:
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- Experience working with SEMH and/or EBD
- Referenceable experience supporting children and young people
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
