Our client is a leading European provider of analytical testing services across air, water, dust, soil, asphalt, and a wide range of construction materials.

With a strong reputation for technical excellence and outstanding customer service, they are expanding their East Midlands team and seeking experienced Construction Materials Technicians to join their Northampton operation.

This opportunity is well suited to individuals with experience as a Materials Testing Technician, Geotechnical Technician, CMT Field Technician, Asphalt Technician, or Soils & Concrete Technician.

The Role

As a Construction Materials Technician, you will carry out on‑site sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with British and European Standards.

  • Conduct on‑site sampling and in‑situ testing of construction materials
  • Liaise professionally with clients and site personnel
  • Prepare, record, and present test data accurately
  • Support colleagues with test methods and procedures
  • Cross‑check calculations and results for quality assurance
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and maintain cleanliness
  • Assist with sample preparation when required
  • Carry out additional duties as needed to support operations

Skills & Experience

  • Be qualified to GCSE Grade C and above / Grade 4 - 9 in Maths, English and one science subject.
  • Experienced in Geotechnical or ground materials testing
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong customer‑facing communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within a quality system
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Team‑oriented with a flexible, proactive approach
  • Reliable, punctual, and well‑organised
  • Self‑motivated with strong prioritisation skills
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to new systems and procedures
