Role Overview

Locum Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

We are looking for a compassionate, experienced Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to support young people with complex mental health needs. The role is locum (long-term) and offers flexibility and variety across the UK.

Key Details

  • Location: North East (UK-wide opportunities available)
  • Rate: Β£100 - Β£110 per hour
  • Contract type: Locum (long-term)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900–1700 (Clinical base North End House)
  • Job type: Locum Consultant Psychiatrist

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Develop and oversee treatment plans.
  • Work closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise Section 12/Section 22 and approved/ responsible clinician status (or eligibility).
  • Current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check.
  • Willingness to undergo DBS or PVG if not already achieved.
  • Experience working in CAMHS or paediatric mental health settings.
  • UK right to work.
  • Child-centred, collaborative, and flexible approach.
  • Desirable: CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months of achieving it).
  • Preferred locations: Greater London, Midlands, North West & North East England, South East & South West England, Scotland, Wales.
