Responsibilities:
- Lifeguard duties for our swimming pools
- Administering First Aid as/when required
- Setting up and de‑rigging equipment, ensuring it is fit for purpose before use
- Immediately reporting any defects in venues and equipment
- Regularly monitoring venues, both internally and externally, to prevent misuse or damage to venues and equipment
- Assisting in delivery, storage, movement and removal of all materials and equipment, as necessary
- Assisting the management teams with any emergency situations that may occur
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
- Experience of working in a customer‑facing environment
- Confident communicating with and leading large groups of people
- All shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake and pass the Newport Live / RLSS Swim Competency Test as part of the selection process
- First Aid at Work certificate (essential for the role but not for your application)
- Ability to communicate in Welsh (or any other languages in addition to English)
- Successful applicants will be required to maintain the ability to pass the Test to maintain capability of the role throughout their time working with us
Pay: £13.45 per hour (current Real Living Wage)
Benefits: Discounted Newport Live membership, option to join a generous pension scheme, free on‑site parking, uniform provided and access to free wellbeing programmes.
Hours: Casual basis; shifts will be published as and when they become available for you to accept (including at short notice), therefore flexibility is required.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check.
