Who are Codi Group? Codi is a not-for-profit with a big heart and an even bigger mission. As Wales’ largest provider of housing, care, and support, we’re here to help people live well, feel supported, and rise to their full potential. Every day, our teams support nearly 17,000 individuals across Wales with services that make a real and uplifting difference to their everyday lives.
About the role: Housing First is a unique and internationally evidenced approach to supporting the most excluded, long-term, entrenched and cyclically homeless individuals and those living rough on the streets. It focuses on finding permanent housing as quickly as possible and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual’s homelessness. This is a varied, fast paced role where you will have the chance to work with people rough sleeping or who are persistently vulnerably housed, experiencing complex and multiple experiences of trauma in their lives using the Housing First model. Your role will be to engage with the people we support and establish trust, respect and a rapport.
Duties:
- Supporting the Housing First Co-ordinators to support individuals with highly complex needs from rough sleeping into their own accommodation.
- Engage and interact positively with the people we support to establish goals to work towards.
- Support customers to make an informed choice relating to the sourcing of appropriate accommodation.
- Conduct all work within the Welsh Government’s Housing First Principles.
- Visit customers to conduct a welfare check, offer support, information and advice with open and honest conversations.
- Work with external agencies and signpost the people we support to the appropriate services suited to their needs.
- Awareness of safe working practices, such as the Lone working & safeguarding policy.
This is a challenging role and you may be faced with complex situations and difficult conversations, behaviours and needs. These individuals will have a variety of support needs.
Skills and Experience Needed:
- A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible.
- An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives.
- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player.
- Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations.
- Resilient and able to cope with the ever-changing circumstances and the emotional need to the people with support.
Values: At Codi, our values are Compassionate, Authentic, and Progressive. When you join us, you’ll embrace these principles and thrive in an environment shaped by them.
