The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

We are looking for a full‑time teacher with SEN experience or specialised in managing challenging behaviour. Our school is based in Newport and caters to students aged 3‑19 years old, all with a range of ALN. The school's mission is to empower and support individuals to be resilient, independent and to develop skills to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly engaging, personalised lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN across a wide range of abilities.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
  • Work collaboratively with a specialist multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff and external practitioners, to provide a holistic approach to learning.
  • Integrate sensory activities, communication strategies and therapeutic approaches into daily teaching practice.
  • Support pupils in developing essential life skills, independence and confidence both within the classroom and in wider school contexts.
  • Monitor progress closely, assess individual needs and adapt teaching methods to ensure every pupil can thrive.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure consistent support and continuity of development.
  • Contribute to whole‑school initiatives aimed at enriching the learning experience and preparing learners for their next steps into adulthood.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience specialising in SEN teaching environments.
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) or eligible to register.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within the SEN/ALN sector.
  • Ability to use Makaton (or a commitment to undertake training) is preferred but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
