A Trainee Teacher of Science is required to join a supportive and forward‑thinking alternative provision in Newcastle from September 2026. This role offers the chance to gain classroom experience while pursuing a structured programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Working within a specialist setting, you will support and inspire young people who require an alternative approach to education, helping them achieve academically and personally.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons across your subject specialism
- Supporting students with a range of educational and pastoral needs
- Developing your understanding of inclusive teaching practices, behaviour support and trauma-informed approaches
- Assessing and monitoring student progress
- Creating a positive and supportive learning environment
- Participating fully in academy life, enrichment activities and wider school events
- Engaging in ongoing professional development and training leading towards QTS
What we’re looking for:
- A degree or strong academic background in a Science-related subject
- A genuine passion for education and empowering young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
