Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has ambitious plans to transform healthcare in North Manchester through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme which will deliver a new hospital and health campus at the existing North Manchester General Hospital site. This major investment will support the transformation of how we deliver our services and create modern facilities that support world‑class clinical care for our communities.
This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest public sector health transformation programmes being delivered across Manchester. As part of the Digital Workstream, the NMGH New Hospital Project Intelligent Hospital Capability (IHC) Manager will contribute to the delivery of future‑ready healthcare infrastructure aligned with national standards and intelligent hospital design principles.
This position supports the integration of intelligent hospital capabilities, including:
- Digitally empowered patients through accessible, interoperable systems
- Smart buildings designed with embedded digital infrastructure to support real‑time data, automation, and predictive maintenance
- Digitally enabled staff with tools that enhance clinical workflows and decision‑making
- Hospitals without walls, promoting integrated care across physical and virtual environments
Responsibilities
- Manage IHC prioritisation and deliver technical specifications to support market engagement, cost analysis, and benefits quantification.
- Lead collaboration with clinical and operational service delivery leads to articulate system requirements sufficient for market engagement, including Smart Building technologies.
- Support the business case delivery by articulating financial costs (capital/revenue) and benefits.
- Inform IHC prioritisation and identify proofs of concept/value (PoC/V) that could be implemented early to deliver benefits ahead of the new NMGH opening.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop the Digital Commercial and Procurement strategy for the scheme.
- Inform Digital Strategy and Roadmap delivery through clinical engagement with target operating model design leads.
