We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to take full ownership of our commercial vehicle fleet while leading a skilled team of HGV Engineers. This key operational role ensures our vehicles remain safe, compliant and ready to support our customers every day.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Responsible for operational compliance, maintenance and transport legislation implementation across the vehicles, trailers and equipment.
- Ensure safety and legal compliance with all statutory regulations and company standards, delivering KPI-driven improvements in fleet availability.
- Promote a "right first time" culture within the team and for internal and external customers.
- Work with operational managers to implement improvement plans and monitor progress regarding compliance, accidents and fuel use.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are roadworthy, manage service providers and maintain service agreements, MOTs and inspections.
- Plan MOT and service slots ahead of schedule to avoid impacting fleet availability.
- Investigate accident trends and provide feedback and suggestions to reduce incidents.
- Participate in transport-related project work to improve performance and manage vehicle operation costs.
- Coordinate the fleet team’s maintenance and repair costs, maintain stock and components, and procure new equipment while refurbishing and selling surplus gear.
- Oversee periodic maintenance inspection checks, unscheduled defects, and damage control.
- Control departmental budget, manage LGV Technician teams, and achieve KPIs while overseeing maintenance of HGV vehicles and related assets.
- Maintain Health & Safety, BRC and Quality standards across the operational environment.
- Recruit, develop and retain talent, providing coaching, training and constructive feedback to maximise team contribution.
