Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This role supports the increasing workload within the department.
Responsibilities
- Repairing broken Mazak spindles to new standards and performing various assembly tasks related to spindle build.
- Precision measuring of spindle components.
- Precision assembly and adjustment according to Mazak work instructions.
- Carrying out quality checks during assembly with precision equipment such as micrometers, test bars, dial test indicators, clamp force and axial force gauges.
- Balancing spindle cartridges.
- Electrical checks of stators (new and re‑used/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
- Some electrical assembly work is required; however, the role is mainly mechanically focused.
Essential Criteria
- Background in precision engineering.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated with good communication and attention to detail.
- Organised, able to plan ahead and follow written procedures.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment.
Desirable Criteria
- Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
- Previous experience in spindle assembly.
- Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault‑finding.
- Previous experience with vernier calipers, depth micrometers, force gauges and micrometers.
- IT skills, including previous experience with Microsoft packages.
