Position Overview: Personal Assistant for a 13 year old boy with ASD and epilepsy in the Merthyr area.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with personal care needs and toileting support.
- Provide support during community trips and ensure safety.
- Encourage and promote the child's independence.
- Create a happy and positive atmosphere when out in the community.
- Reassure the child when unsettled.
- Manage and anticipate challenging behaviours with minimal communication.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Full UK driving licence and own car.
- Previous experience working with children with additional needs and behavioural challenges.
- Kind, patient, trustworthy, and good clear communication skills.
- Desirable: epilepsy training.
Working Hours & Compensation:
- £15 per hour plus mileage at £0.40 per mile.
- Non term time: 6 hours per week; school holidays: 10 hours per week.
- Flexible scheduling.
Additional Information:
Successful applicants will be subject to a three month trial period and a DBS check, which will be at no cost to the candidate. Training will be provided if required.
