The Training Programme Director will oversee the delivery of the Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics training programme in NHS England North West. The post holder will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the North West School of Medicine and contribute to the School’s operational programme. The role will involve improving learner supervision, assessment and experience, engaging faculty, ensuring effective educational outcomes now and in the future, whole workforce transformation and multi‑professional links. As a member of the School Board and the Medicine Speciality Training Committee, the incumbent will ensure that national and clinical standards are met and will play a key role in the strategic direction of the training programme.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the specialty’s regional training programme.
- Handle specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
- Recruitment to training posts and programmes.
- Manage the postgraduate programme, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management, career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and related work‑streams.
Qualifications
- Experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics training across the region.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
- First‑class candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of leadership in medical education and a commitment to high quality training outcomes.
