Our client is seeking a highly skilled Tail Lift Fitter to join their specialised coach building team based in Trafford Park. Duties of a Tail Lift Fitter:
- Install, service, and repair a range of commercial vehicle tail lifts, including column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger lifts
- Carry out LOLER inspections, ensuring all certification and documentation meet legal safety standards
- Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems, including wiring, lighting circuits, and control units
- Work with hydraulic systems: hose replacements, ram repairs, pump servicing, and leak detection
- Assist in integrating tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions alongside the coach building team
- Conduct thorough pre‑delivery checks to ensure all lifting equipment is safe, functional, and compliant
- Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and inspections as a Tail Lift Fitter
- Follow all health and safety procedures to sustain a safe working environment
- Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers as required
Requirements of a Tail Lift Fitter:
- Essential LOLER certification with proven experience in performing statutory inspections
- Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring, electrical fault‑finding, and 12V/24V systems
- Understanding of hydraulic systems and related components
- Experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts, mobility lifts, or similar lifting equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach
- Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
