Cover People are looking for Secondary Teachers to join our supply team and support schools across Stockport. We have a growing number of opportunities for teachers who want the freedom of supply teaching, with both individual day bookings and short-term placements available. Supply teaching can be a great fit if you're looking for flexibility around your existing commitments, want to experience different school environments, or are an ECT looking to broaden your classroom experience.
We work with a variety of secondary schools and aim to match teachers with assignments that suit their subject expertise, experience and availability. You may be required to take on planned lessons, respond to short-notice cover requirements or provide continuity for classes during short-term staff absences. The ability to quickly establish yourself within a new school and maintain a calm, purposeful classroom is essential.

As a supply teacher, you will be expected to:
- Teach engaging and appropriately challenging lessons across the secondary age range
- Follow lesson plans, curriculum requirements and individual school procedures
- Establish clear expectations and maintain good classroom discipline
- Adapt quickly to different schools, departments and groups of pupils
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to participate in learning
- Liaise professionally with school staff throughout each assignment
- Record relevant information or feedback following lessons where requested
You should have:
- QTS or recognised equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge in your specialist area
- Experience teaching within a secondary school environment
- The confidence to take responsibility for a classroom at short notice
- A dependable and adaptable approach
- A genuine commitment to pupil progress, safeguarding and wellbeing
ECTs are welcome to apply, alongside teachers with extensive classroom experience.
