Supporting Asda Stores Across Multiple Locations. We're looking for experienced Mobile Store Detectives to operate across a network of Asda stores, in a specific region with flexibility to support additional sites where required.

Pay, Hours & Contract

  • Pay Rate: £14.89
  • Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Hours: 42 hours per week, including weekend working (approx. 2 Saturdays per month)
  • Start Date: Immediate start available

Travel Requirement

This is a mobile role, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential. Mileage is reimbursed.

About the Role

As a Mobile Plain Clothes Security Operative, you'll play a critical role in protecting Asda's people, property, and profits. Working across multiple stores, you'll operate both covertly and overtly to detect and prevent theft, reduce stock loss, and ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer behaviour and identify suspicious activity across multiple sites
  • Conduct covert surveillance to detect and prevent theft
  • Safely and lawfully detain offenders where appropriate
  • Produce clear, accurate incident reports and witness statements
  • Liaise with store management, security teams, and local police where required
  • Stay up to date with local crime trends and adapt your approach
  • Ensure full compliance with SIA regulations and company procedures
  • Travel between stores and respond to incidents as needed
  • Represent Mitie and Asda with professionalism at all times

What We're Looking For

  • Valid SIA Licence (SG, DS or CP)
  • Previous experience in retail security or store detective roles preferred
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident decision-maker, able to handle conflict professionally
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable using technology and reporting systems
  • High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Flexible and reliable, with a proactive mindset
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
