The Manchester Cystic Fibrosis Unit is a centre of Excellence in the North West. Pearce ward is the inpatient unit with 20 beds and a staffing ratio of 1 trained nurse to 5‑6 patients caring for young adults with varying degrees of acute and chronic CF related illness, as well as general respiratory patients. We provide holistic nursing care of the highest standard and support and training for our nurses. This is a fixed term 12‑month post covering maternity leave. We welcome newly qualified and experienced staff and will provide a comprehensive induction. Band 4 pay for newly qualified nurses awaiting NMC PIN, 12‑month preceptorship with 4 weeks supernumerary status for new nurses.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
- Work closely with the multi‑disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process.
- Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff and pre‑registration students.
- Take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and maintain high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
