A vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The postholder must be Section 12 approved. This is a full‑time appointment for a Section 12 approved Specialty Doctor.
The ward team consists of:
- 1 band 7 Ward Manager
- 4 band 6 charge nurses
- 14.2 staff nurses
- 3 registered nursing associates
The RC is supported by:
- 1 specialty doctor
- 1 higher trainee (depending on trainer qualification and DME discretion)
- 3–4 resident doctors
- 1 WTE AP
- 1 WTE psychologist
The inpatient team are supported by HBTT, EIS and local CMHTs.
Responsibilities:- Attend and chair ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward.
- Make decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, and seek advice from covering consultant when appropriate.
- Perform MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at tribunal hearings.
- Handle MHA work related to consent to treatment and SOAD requests.
- Assess and manage physical health for patients on inpatient wards, attend physical health meetings and board rounds.
- Supervise more junior resident doctors on the ward.
- Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality care.
- Be involved in clinical governance activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
- Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team.
- Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.
- Section 12 approval required.
