Overview
The Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is a high‑volume, tertiary service providing urgent care to infants, children and young people across Greater Manchester. This Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will provide clinical leadership on shift, support patient flow, assist with triage and assessment, and ensure timely escalation of deteriorating patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership on shift and act as department area lead.
- Coordinate patient flow and support triage and assessment.
- Ensure timely escalation of deteriorating patients and clinical concerns.
- Supervise, mentor and teach junior staff, promoting evidence‑based practice.
- Participate in quality improvement, safeguarding, and service development activities.
- Support the Band 7 nurse and act as nurse in charge when required.
- Contribute to achieving key operational targets, including ED flow and waiting times.
Qualifications
Eligible to apply as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in paediatric nursing. Detailed person specification available on request.
