My client is an engineering design consultancy working closely with a wide range of clients, across a number of disciplines within the UK rail and utilities industries. Full time role from the Manchester Office with occasional site visits for which travel expenses will be paid. Hybrid working possible when required provided agreed in advance. Can be contract (outside IR35) or permanent role.
Responsibilities:
- Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
- Identify efficient design solutions from scopes and site visits and communicate these to client and project team.
- Direct and more junior designers and graduates.
- Approve design deliverables, DRAs, reports and specifications.
- Prepare design risk assessments, reports and specifications.
- Carry out mass balance, process sizing and hydraulic calculations and prepare process flow diagrams, control philosophies and commissioning strategies.
- Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and water company standards.
- Ensure project change for design package is fully implemented and recorded.
- Undertake work using formal processes and procedures.
- Estimate hours required for design packages.
- Attend and present designs at HAZOP, ALM, KM meetings and similar.
- Review, interpret and brief standards, procedures and changes to them.
- Provide key technical guidance for projects and tenders.
Essentials:
- 10 years' relevant design experience in the regulated water industry.
- Experience and understanding of wastewater unit processes and treatment plant, with experience of delivering process design for wastewater projects.
- Graduate, HND or significant experience from Technician level.
- Good level IT.
Desirables:
- Chartered engineer.
- Experience with both clean water and waste water.
- Experience of HAZOP studies ideally as HAZOP chair.
- Driving licence & access to vehicle.
