The Role
Holt Engineering is proud to be representing a leading engineering consultancy in the energy sector, supporting the growth of their Power Systems team. We are working closely with them to identify talented engineers who are looking to make an impact across the UK’s evolving energy landscape. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of studies, including load flow, fault level, dynamic analysis, and power quality, supporting grid connections, network planning, and system performance across transmission and distribution networks. You’ll play a key role in delivering solutions that enable renewable integration, improve network resilience, and support the transition to net zero. You’ll have the chance to take ownership of projects, collaborate with experienced specialists, and engage directly with clients, all within a supportive and technically strong environment that offers genuine progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Delivery
- Deliver high-quality power system studies and analysis
- Carry out modelling using tools such as PowerFactory, IPSA, PSSE, PSCAD or similar
- Prepare clear, accurate technical reports
- Support feasibility studies, proposals, and bid development
- Project & Team Involvement
- Support or lead project delivery, including planning and coordination
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
- Client Engagement
- Build strong client relationships and deliver high-quality consultancy support
- Represent the business in meetings, events, and industry forums
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience in power system modelling and analysis
- Experience with tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA, PSSE, PSCAD or similar
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with Python or scripting for modelling/automation
- Consultancy experience and commercial awareness
- Knowledge of UK energy regulations, HV design, or asset management
