A permanent position within the North West Genomic Laboratory Hub (NW GLH) Manchester site at St Mary’s Hospital. The role is part of a large NHS acute trust serving a population of 7.2 million in the North West of England.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a specialised section of the technical team, supervising trainee staff.
  • Integrate as a member of the management team for technical staff and resources.
  • Work closely with personnel at all levels nationally and internationally, providing genomic data to support the national genomic medicine service.
  • Maintain high quality data from Whole Genome Sequencing and other key genomic techniques.
  • Operate within a 6‑day delivery model, with occasional Saturday and bank holiday working as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Registered Genetic Technologist with the Academy for Healthcare Science (or equivalent).
  • Highly specialised knowledge of genomic techniques.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
