About the Role: Make your impact when it counts. As a Night Young People Support Worker, you’ll create safety, stability and opportunity for young people aged 18–25 as they move towards independent living. Working overnight at our Burnage Lane service in Manchester, you’ll build strong, trusting relationships, manage risk confidently and provide calm, compassionate support during challenging moments. You’ll lead a small caseload of people with low to medium needs, delivering sharp, outcomes‑focused support plans and practical one‑to‑one and group interventions. Working alongside colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies, you’ll promote safeguarding, maintain a welcoming and safe environment, and actively support young people into education, training or employment—always keeping their voice at the centre.

We’re looking for someone experienced, proactive and values‑led, with a strong understanding of homelessness, mental health and person‑centred support. Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a full‑time (37.5 hour per week), permanent role.

Shift Pattern: Night shifts on a two‑week rolling rota of 3 shifts in one week and 4 the next: 21:30‑08:00 (current shift pattern: one week Tuesday‑Thursday; following week Monday, Friday‑Sunday).

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times, including using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
  • Carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker, and take joint responsibility with team members for the wellbeing and day‑to‑day support of all clients in the services.
  • Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for key clients, and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service.
  • Develop and implement SMART outcomes‑based support plans for key clients.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group support opportunities within the accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience of clients.
  • Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies, including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of Depaul clients in accordance with data protection and information sharing protocols.
  • Be flexible, reflective and creative in engagement with clients and provide personalised support.
  • Involve clients in decisions made about them and encourage participation in Depaul’s wider community programme of activities.
  • Support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate.
  • Participate in a rota which may include unsocial hours and weekend working.
  • Prepare accommodation for new clients to move in and support clients to settle in.
  • Undertake further duties as commensurate with the role and identified by your line manager.

  • Understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance misuse.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk assessments and support planning.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
