The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 ÂŁ per year.

We are looking for a dedicated and emotionally resilient person to help deliver bespoke, person‑centred information and support to people affected by cancer. The post holder will be based in the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre at North Manchester General Hospital. The successful candidate must be committed to improving the lives of people affected by cancer (PAbC) in a way that is tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person‑centred information and support to patients and family members, including listening to their needs and providing high‑quality, bespoke information.
  • Signpost and refer to appropriate services and complete detailed care plans, including using a range of formats.
  • Carry out administration duties to support the service: manage spreadsheets and data‑collection forms, create posters and flyers, order information resources.
  • Record all relevant interactions with service users in the hospital record systems.
  • Deputise for the manager during meetings or when on leave.
  • Work independently in the workplace, including periods of lone working.
  • Attend relevant training and proactively identify own development needs, sharing them with the manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with people in distressing situations such as palliative care.
  • High resilience, adaptability and capacity to handle changing priorities.
  • Competency with a range of IT systems and computer skills.
  • Experience using hospital record systems and performing administrative tasks (desirable).
  • Commitment to patient‑focused care and confidentiality.
