The Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington & Altrincham Clinical Group (WTWA) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Locum Consultant in Clinical Haematology to join our friendly and supportive team, based at Wythenshawe Hospital.

This is a fixed‑term locum post for 6 months, offering 6 Programmed Activities (PAs), providing high‑quality consultant‑level clinical care across WTWA haematology services.

You will join a team of three consultants, supported by Advanced Nurse Practitioners and a Ward Manager, delivering care for patients with both malignant and non‑malignant haematological disorders.

The service manages conditions including high‑ and low‑grade lymphomas, myeloma and chronic leukaemias, alongside a range of non‑malignant haematology conditions.

Chemotherapy delivery is Level 2A and MDT working is embedded within the service.

MFT is a leading centre of clinical excellence, with a strong culture of collaboration, innovation, teaching and research.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant‑level care for patients with malignant and non‑malignant haematological disorders.
  • Deliver outpatient clinics and inpatient ward cover as required within the 6 PA allocation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Support the haematology laboratory service where appropriate (clinical liaison, result interpretation).
  • Ensure high standards of patient safety, clinical governance, and quality improvement.
  • Comply with Trust policies, NICE guidance, and national haematology standards.
  • Participate in the haematology on‑call rota on a pro‑rata basis, subject to service need and job plan agreement.
  • Contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, specialty trainees, and allied health‑care professionals.
  • Support undergraduate and postgraduate education where appropriate.
  • Participate in audit, service development, and quality improvement activities.
  • Engage in appraisal, revalidation, and mandatory training requirements.
